Hi,

I'm wondering if you have any Hermann babies now? What temp did you hatch the eggs at? I'm hoping to get 2 babies with different sex or 2 females if possible, because I'm hoping not to get 2 males fighting in the future... :)

Thank you!

Just wondering if you will have any African Spur Thighs (Sulcata) or Leopard Tortoises available this year. I noticed that nothing has been posted since 2009.

Thanks,
Donna :)

Danner:

The hatchings sulcatas are $45 each. People rarely have a problem raising the hatchings. The yearlings are $90 each (it takes a lot of time and money to raise them for a year so I don't sell them for the hatching price). I have worked with sulcatas for many years and have spent a lot of money trying find ways to sex hatchings and it can't be done. I also invested in a University study to do temperature sex determination study, and blood work. They can be temperature sexed for females at 90 degrees but over 30% will end up with irregular scute patterns, which must be discounted so I rarely temperature sex them anymore. There is no way to determine the sex by blood work. The tortoises I have were incubated between 86 and 88 degrees, which would result in a mix of males and females. If you are interested in breeding them in the future you would do much better buying a pair of yearling heterozygous for "Ivory Tortoise" ($400 a pair). 25% of their babies would be "Ivory tortoises" and would sell for way more than a normal sulcata. I also have unsexed heterozygous tortoises for $100 each and temperature sexed females for $150 each.

If you are interested in the hatching for $45 I will look at them to try and determine the sex but can't guarantee anything.

Thank you for your interest,

Richard

I READ AND SEARCH FOR ARTICLES ABOUT THEM. THEY ARE GOING TO BE IN GOOD HANDS. IM A GUY 26Y OLD THAT LOVE NATURE-ANIMALS AND PLANTS. I HAVE LIKE A LITTLE FARM WITH A PASO FINO FILLIE, CHICKENS, POND FISHES, RABBITS, AND HONEY BEES. I RECENTLE BOUGHT A PAIR OF ADULT RED FOOTED TORTOISES. BUT I ALWAYS WANTED THE SULCATAS. HOW YOU CAN SEE I LOVE ANIMALS. MY EMAIL IS dannersarmiento@gmail.com and you can replied to my girlfriend LuyeL13@aol.com. PLEASE COULD YOU HELP ME.
