Hi, I am interested in a pair , would a pen half an acre be enough room for two, or would you recommend just one. I will keep them indoors until they are a good size. Do you also have a good diet mix available? After purchase of the tortoise are you available if any questions should arise? I am sorry about the questions I have been looking for a pair for a while now and am very happy that these are captive bred, I just wanted to be thorough as some sites have misled. Thank you I hope to speak to you soon and will probably be ordering soon.

A half acre is enough space for a pair of African spurred tortoises (could handle up to about 4 or 5 adults if you are feeding them and not just depending on them eating the grass). I generally only sell unsexed hatchings as you usually can’t tell the sex until they are about 12-inches or more. I do temperature sex a few females that are heterozygous for “Ivory Tortoise” at $150 each. If you breed a pair of heterozygous tortoises then 25% of the babies will be “Ivory Tortoises”. Unsexed heterozygous for “Ivory Tortoise” (most likely males) are $100 each. Shipping in the USA is about $50 depending on where you live and the size of the tortoises. I can look to see if I have any normal yearling African spurred tortoises that are showing any sexual dimorphism but they would be $75 for likely males and $100 for likely females. No guarantee but I can probably pick out a couple that would give you an 80% to 90% chance that I am correct and would look like a pair to any tortoise breeder. Unsexed hatchings (about 3-4 months old are $45 each plus $50 shipping).
Let me know if you are interested.
